So this in my ‘About Me page’. – Because I know you are wondering.
My name is Buck Hicks and I am developer in the Three Rivers, Michigan area. I have been on the developer path since around 2000 where I started building Microsoft Access applications. When .Net became widely available I jumped on the Visual Basic .Net bandwagon and rode that all the way to 2012, when I made the switch to C#.
Today I primarily work on Desktop applications using a combination of C# and XAML for a small company in Battle Creek, Michigan. I have just started learning UWP, Unity 3D and Xamarin Mobile development for my educational enhancement. If you are interested in ANY of these technologies and live in the area (South West Michigan) I would love to hear from you. You can find me on LinkedIn here.
Update: Earlier this year (2017), in preparation for the ASP.Net Core 2.0 release I started working on a hobby website to help teach myself the MVC pattern and the tooling inside Visual Studio. Currently the website is an unfinished project and something that I am working on in my spare time. It is being built with MVC 5 because at its start MVC Core wasn’t fully baked. My plan is to convert it to Core 2.0 at a later date to learn the differences between the two technologies.
The site is called Northern Dog and it is a site dedicated to all Northern breed of Dog but especially the NAID. You might say I am a little obsessed with these dogs, which is why I chose them as the focus for my first project in ASP.Net MVC.
So I guess I can sum up my ‘About Me’ by saying this. I am a developer from South West Michigan area with a passion for technology and the NAID breed of dog. By the way the above picture is my NAS (a variant of the NAID Breed) Apache.
